bG Gallery and the California Art League present Light, a group exhibition exploring light in its physical, emotional, poetic, and metaphorical forms.

Light cast upon darkness can forcefully or subtly illuminate form. Through shifts in intensity, contrast, atmosphere, and perception, light can suggest drama or poetry and transform how an image, object, or space is experienced.

But Light extends beyond illumination. Light can also suggest weight—or its absence. A floating feather placed beside something monumental can transform our understanding of both. A light conversation, uplifted spirits, contentment, peace, and a sense of “lightness of being” move the exhibition into more abstract and emotional territory.

At its most elemental, light signals presence. In a space of darkness, even the smallest sliver can fundamentally change what we perceive and what we know is there.

Bringing together works across painting, photography, drawing, digital art, mixed media, collage, and sculpture, Light presents varied artistic interpretations of this deceptively simple idea—from literal investigations of illumination and shadow to works concerned with hope, gravity, atmosphere, perception, and transcendence.

The exhibition is presented by the California Art League in collaboration with bG Gallery and is juried by Om Navon Bleicher, Director of bG Gallery. Bleicher’s curatorial practice brings together established and emerging artists across conceptual and expressive approaches, often creating dialogues between otherwise divergent artistic practices.

The public is invited to join the artists and organizers for the Opening Reception and Awards Presentation on Saturday, November 7, from 5–8 PM. An additional Artist Talk and Reception will take place Sunday, November 15, from 2–5 PM.

Light will be on view at bG Gallery from November 3 through November 18, 2026.
